Introducing the Knives by Nuge Bruin. The idea for this design came from necessity while hunting in 2023. I was using my Wicket XL to process a deer and found myself looking for just a little more reach and narrow profile for those deeper cuts. I wanted to ensure that I could get into some of those hard-to-reach places while maintaining the ability to efficiently skin the deer.

When I sat down at the drawing board, two of my older models came to mind. The blade shape of EDB with its long blade and slicing belly is exactly what I needed. Combining that with a narrowed version of the bushcrafter handle would create a comfortable and functional hunting knife.

I originally designed the Bruin with a saber grind, but while testing prototypes with some trusted outdoor professionals, they unanimously said that making the Bruin in a scandi grind would result in an excellent all-purpose field knife.

Ultimately, I decided to produce the Bruin in both scandi and saber grind options. If you’re looking for a dedicated hunting knife the saber grind may be up your alley, but if you are looking for an all-purpose field knife the scandi version may be the way to go.

The Bruin will be available in a variety of steel options including AEB-L, Nitro-V, CPM-154 and CPM-3V. All these options are incredibly tough and will hold up to the rigors of outdoor use.

Very good size,shape, and weight for an all purpose bulletproof outdoor knife. Edge geometry was just what I was looking for, and the leather sheath is well made and durable. Would/will buy again!

The craftsmanship on my Cub is excellent. It arrived extremely sharp, and I put it through fairly hard use during the first weekend I owned it. It handled everything well and held its edge without any issues.

Most of my fixed blades have Kydex sheaths, but the leather sheath included with the Cub has me rethinking that preference. It looks great, carries comfortably, and complements the knife perfectly. I’m now considering leather sheaths for some of my other fixed blades.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with the Cub. It’s a well-made, hard-working knife with an excellent sheath, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Knives by Nuge.

Both the blaze orange Cub from Huntstock and the Brookie Mangiafico inlayed Wicket is also top tier. Both blades are amazing. I'm conflicted on which to EDC on the daily. The cub will be leveraged for my deer hunt this fall which I look forward to.
